Community Involvement

Genesi supports a worldwide developer community and has created a portfolio of enterprise management tools to sustain the ecosystem that has developed around its products. Genesi participates in third party communities such as Linaro, the not-for-profit engineering organization that is consolidating and optimizing open source Linux software and tools for the ARM™ architecture. Genesi is a former Founder-level member of Power.org, the ecosystem alliance organization supporting the Power Architecture™ technology, and has served on the Power.org Board of Directors.

Genesi is a Sponsor of the OpenSuSE, Debian, Gentoo, Fedora, Crux, Bodhi, DoudouLinux, FreeBSDAROS and MorphOS Communities. With the exception of MorphOS, these Linux Distributions and Alternative Operating System Communities were most recently provided Efika MX Smartbooks and/or Smarttops and received technical support from Genesi. MorphOS is available only to the Power Architecture™ technology.  The MorphOS Community continues to support all of Genesi's related platforms. In sum, these Communities have been essential to Genesi for years and have created immeasurable value. Communities also build volume. Genesi will continue to invest in these Communities and the people that make them what they are.

Among other specific Community projects, Genesi initiated and supported the ArmHardFloatPort, which has become an industry standard.

Community Support

Power Developer (www.powerdeveloper.org) was established to broaden the services offered to the ARM™ and Power Architecture™ Developer and User Communities. Enthusiasts of open source operating systems are encouraged to interact with Genesi engineers and between themselves. Hardware programs supported by Genesi and Genesi partners have provided thousands of boards and systems to software developers worldwide.

power2people (www.power2people.org) is a non-profit organization focused on fostering the development and sharing of information and communication technologies. The power2people Project & Bounty Program is funded by Genesi and hundreds of interested donors mostly from the AROS Community. The Project & Bounty Program has successfully supported the development of numerous software projects.

MorphZone (www.morphzone.org) is a site dedicated to MorphOS Developer and User information and discussion. MorphOS is a lightweight, highly efficient and flexible desktop operating system. The Site's Forum Moderators are all volunteers from the MorphOS Community. The Forums are multi-lingual and range from simple to highly specialized discussions.
